Yelco Story: From a Dream to a Group with All Telco Solutions

This month, on the 8th of October, we celebrate the first anniversary of Yelco Group!

To let you in more on our celebration, in this post we’ll tell you about our story.

Our Story

Yelco’s story began a little before 2014, with the founders of Yelco Group meeting. They were both working in a telecommunications company back then, and in a debate of ideas they came up with the concept for the “first-born” of our group: First Approach.

First Approach was founded in April of 2014, in Portugal, as a consultancy company for the telco industry. At the start, human resources were little, so the focus was to put all the efforts on the right target, to make it count. Working in consulting, they worked as intermediaries between clients and their necessities, and partners from whom they got the ways to make their project proposals happen.

As partners weren’t always the most reliable, a few months after, in September of the same year, the founders came up with C3T, a company focused on developing projects and delivering innovation for the telecommunications industry. To put both companies under the same domain, the First Global group was created.

With First Approach and C3T, they were able to consult and develop for their clients, but there was a missing piece to the puzzle: the companies were capable of doing all that, but still depended on others for components, as C3T’s core was developing main products and not components.

To solve that, in 2016 the group bought half of Global Wire, a component supplier. This addition completed the First Global group as a full in-house solution provider. In 2018, the group ended up owning Global Wire as a whole.

Also in 2016, Twoosk was founded, a marketplace that was built from scratch. Initially, it had the purpose of helping companies to drain their overstock nationally, reduced to the Portuguese market. Then, Twoosk started expanding internationally, as a marketplace for the B2B telco sector.

With all these companies in the First Global group, we decided to reinforce our identity with a rebranding. That’s when we reinvented ourselves into a new group organization, where we merged C3T and Global Wire into one single company, focusing the production in one place, and we also transformed First Approach.

In 2021, the Yelco Group was introduced to the market, with the following companies: Yelco Technologies (former C3T and Global Wire), Yelco Consulting (formerly First Approach) and Twoosk. Being under the Yelco Group, unites these companies under the same culture, the same values, and the same flag.

Our Future

For the future of Yelco’s story, we are invested in being a “data-driven decisions” company. Whether we’re talking about project development or expanding the marketplace, we want to base our decisions not on experience and things we think we know, but on what data tells us about our customers and their necessities.

We see data-driven decisions as the way to reach optimized and quality results, that will allow us to make the right decisions with fewer resources spent on time-consuming processes. It is the element that will allow being more efficient in everything we do. To reach this goal of being a totally data-driven company, we’re working on collecting all the data possible and trying to make the right questions, to get the best outcomes now and in the future.

We believe that everything we’ve done and are doing in the present, either right or wrong, will ultimately get us to be the company we want to be for our clients.
