Changing how modules are made, we present you the Compact Module 3U, a fiber optic module that will optimize your network while also being easier to manage and more budget friendly.
Fiber Optic Modules can be very complex to manage, as we’re talking about a large amount of very small fibers in just one place. It can be confusing and damaging fibers can happen easily. This makes it harder for a telecom professional to be able to install a module and also to maintain the fibers inside it.
Currently, the FO modules that exist on the market are manufactured in sheet metal. In addition to the operational difficulties mentioned above, in the current scenario, raw materials for the manufacture of sheet metal products are scarce, which leads to delays in the delivery of materials and consequent delays in the construction of networks. In addition, the plastic option becomes more economical due to the raw material itself, and for being an industrial product of mass production.
With the increase in fiber density in data centers, the fact that the plastic module is a lighter and more durable product than the sheet metal products is a great advantage.
The Compact Module 3U is a type of fiber optic module meant to be installed on a SubRack, inside a Rack. This product helps operators have more in one place, as it allows for more fiber optic density.
As fiber optic networks keep growing, there’s the necessity to have the capacity for an even higher density in a Rack. To help with this matter, the Compact Module 3U comes with the possibility to attach 12 to 24 splices on the module – or a maximum of 6 splitters -, and as a SubRack can hold up to 12 modules, this means you can have between 144 to 288 splices in one. It also has space for storage fibers and protection.
For managing complications when operating with a large number of fibers in these modules, the Module 3U comes with a specific tool for it, making it easier for telecom professionals to direct fibers and the process of installment simpler. Along with the tool, it has transparent covers that allow a professional to look through them without having to open them when needed, avoiding breaking fibers.
Instead of being made of metal, the main rear structure is made of plastic. This makes it lighter, weighting on average 150g less than a metal module, which contributes to up to 30% less weight on a Rack. It’s also faster to produce and overall helps reduce the CAPEX and OPEX.
Besides serving the basic purpose of a regular fiber optic module, this product brings innovation to the table:
Optimization of the Material: Being made of plastic solves a lot of problems. This material allows for faster production, as it cuts dependency on metal suppliers, which means the waiting period for your product gets shorter. Also, it is more sustainable and lasts more, as it has no rust problems and is recyclable. The lighter weight is also an advantage.
Simpler Management: Besides coming with a tool that already makes it easier to install, the transparent covers make it even more simple to maintain, as it allows to look through when needed, without having to open the covers and risking the breakage of fibers.
Versatility: It allows to install splices, splitters and even has space for fiber storage. In addition, any type of connector can be applied to it, just by changing the front plate.
The Compact Module 3U is compatible with a lot of other telecom products. Some of these are: 3U SubRacks, Racks, Patchcords, Patchcord Shelfs, Patchcord panels, Loose Tube Shelfs, FO Cleaning Kits and Pre-terminated fiber cables.
